The basics

What is an offshore development center (ODC)?

An offshore development center is a team of engineers in another country that works only on your product, as an extension of your own company. With BizBrolly, the team works from our office in Noida, India.

It isn’t the same as outsourcing a project. There is no fixed scope and no hand-off at the end. The same people stay on your product, learn how it works and keep improving it for as long as you need them.

Fit

Is an ODC the right model for you?

An ODC works best for products with a long road ahead. If your work is smaller or shorter, another model will cost you less, and we’ll tell you so on the first call.

A good fit when

  • Your product has months of work ahead, not a few weeks.
  • You want the same engineers to learn your product and stay on it.
  • Hiring locally is slow, or the skills you need are hard to find.
  • Someone on your side can set priorities, usually a product owner or CTO.

How it runs

How we set up and run your offshore team

From the first call to a team that ships work every week. Here is what happens at each step, what you get and what your side does.

  1. Team-fit call

We talk through your product, your roadmap, the stack and the hours your team works.

    You get
A straight answer on whether an ODC fits, or what would fit better.
    Your part
One call with whoever owns the product.
  2. Written team plan

We propose the roles, seniority and size of the team, and how it can grow.

    You get
A written plan with the team, the start date and the monthly cost, usually within 2–3 business days.
    Your part
Review the plan and ask for changes.
  3. Putting the team together

We assign and hire the people for the roles in your plan.

    You get
The names and roles of the people on your team.
    Your part
    Confirm the team.
  4. Onboarding

The team gets access to your tools, code and documentation, and you walk them through the product.

    You get
A first sprint plan, agreed with you.
    Your part
A product walkthrough and access to your tools.
  5. Sprints and weekly demos

Two-week sprints with a demo every week. You can change priorities between sprints.

    You get
Working software to review every week.
    Your part
Join the weekly demo and set the next priorities.
  6. Grow, shrink or hand over

Add people when the roadmap grows and scale down when it settles, on the terms in your contract.

    You get
A team that fits the work, and a clean handover if you take it in-house.
    Your part
    Tell us what’s changing.
Working together

How we work with your team

The questions most companies ask before working with an offshore team: your time, your code, continuity and where we are.

  • You see working software every week

Two-week sprints with a demo every week. Nothing runs for months without your input.

  • One point of contact runs the team

We manage the engineers and the delivery. Your time goes into the weekly demo and setting priorities, usually through one product owner.

  • 90% of our team stays year on year

The engineers who learn your product are usually the ones who keep building it, so the knowledge stays on your project.

  • Your code and IP stay yours

Our contracts set out ownership of the source code, designs and documentation, and ownership passes to you under the contract’s payment terms.

  • Access by role, code reviewed before it’s merged

We give access to your systems by role and handle client data in controlled environments. Our information security management is certified to ISO/IEC 27001.

What an offshore development center costs

An ODC is billed monthly, by the roles and seniority on your team. Here is what moves the number, and what you get in writing before you commit.

Every written team plan states

The roles, the seniority, the team size, the start date and the monthly cost. You usually get it within 2–3 business days of the call.

  • Team size

The number of people is the biggest factor. You can start small and add people as the roadmap grows.

  • Seniority mix

Senior engineers cost more per month and need less guidance. Most teams mix senior and mid-level engineers.

  • Specialist skills

AI, DevOps, Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce specialists cost more than generalist web engineers.

  • Full-time or shared roles

On a smaller team, a designer, DevOps engineer or architect can be shared part-time instead of full-time.

  • Onsite visits

If you want engineers to spend time at your office, travel becomes part of the plan. Our team for Intwo worked onsite in the UAE.

Offshore development center FAQs

Straight answers on cost, team size, ownership, security and what happens if things change.

What is an offshore development center?

An offshore development center (ODC) is a team of engineers in another country that works only on your product, as an extension of your own company. With BizBrolly, the team works from our office in Noida, India. You decide what gets built, and we hire the engineers, keep them and manage the daily work.

How is an ODC different from staff augmentation?

In an ODC, BizBrolly runs the team and the daily delivery while you set the priorities. With staff augmentation, individual engineers join your existing team and your own leads direct their work. Choose an ODC when you want a complete team that delivers your roadmap. Choose staff augmentation to fill a specific skill or capacity gap.

Staff augmentation and dedicated teams

How is an ODC different from outsourcing a project?

A project has a fixed scope, a fixed price and an end date. An ODC has none of these: it is a team, billed monthly, that keeps working on your roadmap as it changes. If your scope is defined and won’t change much, a fixed-price project usually costs less.

Compare the ways to work with us

How much does an offshore development center cost?

It depends on the number of people, their seniority and any specialist skills. An ODC is billed monthly by the roles and seniority on the team. After a short call we send a written team plan with the roles, the team size and the monthly cost, usually within 2–3 business days.

See what moves the cost

How many people do we need to start?

Fewer than most companies expect. You can start with a small team and add people once the first sprints are running. Our published dedicated teams range from 5 to 25 people, and the team planner on this page shows a typical starting shape for your product.

Plan your team

Where is the team based, and how much do their hours overlap with ours?

The engineering team works from our office in Noida, India, and we have offices in the USA, UK, Canada and South Africa. Before the work starts, we agree a daily working-hour overlap with your team for stand-ups and reviews. The exact window depends on your time zone and daylight-saving changes.

Who owns the code and the IP?

Our contracts set out ownership of the agreed deliverables, including source code, designs and documentation, and ownership passes to you under the contract’s payment terms. We also agree repository access, credentials and documentation handover, so your team can maintain the product without us.

How do you keep our data and code secure?

We give access to client systems by role, review code before it is merged and handle client data in controlled environments. Our quality and information security management systems are certified to ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001. For healthcare and other regulated products, we agree the security and compliance requirements with you before the team starts.

What happens if an engineer leaves?

It doesn’t happen often: 90% of our team stays year on year. In an ODC, hiring and retention are our job, so when someone does leave, we find the replacement and the rest of the team carries the product knowledge forward.

Can we bring the team or the work in-house later?

Yes. If you decide to take the work in-house, we hand over the source code, documentation, credentials and access, and can run handover sessions with your own engineers. Some companies also ask about build-operate-transfer (BOT), where a provider sets up a team and later moves it into the client’s own company. If you are weighing this, raise it on the call and we’ll tell you plainly what we can support.

Tell us about the team you need

  1. Book a call or send a short brief. A few lines about your product is enough, and the booking calendar shows times in your own time zone.
  2. We reply within 1–2 hours on business days and talk through your roadmap, stack and working hours.
  3. You get a written team plan with the roles, team size, start date and monthly cost, usually within 2–3 business days.
